What displays on your Axiom menu, is determined by the contents of a simple text file named aximenu.cfg. The aximenu.cfg can be modified in various ways to customize your Axiom menu, but in this article, we’ll show how to create submenus.
The default location for the aximenu.cfg is C:\Program Files (x86}\Axiom\V8\aximenu\

Create submenus on your Axiom menu

Submenus allow you to shorten your Axiom menu and categorize your listed Axiom software applications.

The differences between the two menus above are produced by changes made in the aximenu.cfg file. These changes are simple and easy to make. See the example below showing contents of the default aximenu.cfg and then the modified version of aximenu.cfg.

Steps to build an aximenu.cfg like the example above

  1. Give your submenu a name
Enter a “#” and then the name of your submenu.

  1. Start your submenu
On the next line, enter: SUBMENU:

  1. Add the name of a submenu item
Start the following line with “#”, then enter the name of your menu item.

  1. Add the product to be loaded
Enter the abbreviated product name, followed by the product URL. (The URL is optional.)

  1. Repeat steps 3 and 4 for as many products as you’d like to load from your submenu.
  2. End your submenu
After your last product entry, add: ENDSUBMENU:

After saving the changes, restart MicroStation to see your updated menu.
