This article walks you through replacing an existing text string with a new text string in multiple files.
In this example we are changing “Stashun” to “Station”, but you can change the strings to whatever you want.
This article uses the built-in Modify text… custom feature of Global File Changer to perform this task.
- Save the provided Modify-Text.txt file to a convenient location.
- Load Global File Changer.

- Go to Settings | Restore Factory Defaults…, and press <Yes> when prompted.
This is a precaution to ensure there are no other features or settings active that might impact your result. - Next to the Design Files: field, press the <Select...> button.
- Either drag and drop your files into the Choose Files to Process dialog box, or navigate to and select your files for processing. Press <OK> when finished.

- Go to Custom | Modify text…
- In the Modify Text dialog box, go to File | Open…, then navigate to and select the Modify-Text.txt file.

- Choose the Replace Text tab, then enter your desired search and replace strings and press <Add>.
(You can remove the “Stashun” and “Station” pairing by selecting them and pressing <Remove>.) - Go to File | Save to save your changes, then press <OK> to return to the main dialog box.
- Press <Start> to process your files.
When the process is complete, all instances of the search string will be replaced with the replacement string.
