Global File Changer - How can I turn 'Scale line styles by reference scale' on or off in multiple files?

This article walks you through toggling on or off the Scale Line Styles By Reference Scale feature for a specific attached reference file in multiple files.

This particular key-in can be run with the MicroStation Batch Process tool as well, but the directions in this article are specifically for use with Global File Changer.

Attached to this article is a KEY file that Global File Changer uses to perform this operation. The KEY file contains commands that MicroStation executes. Before processing your files, you will need to modify the values in the KEY file to match your requirements.

  1. Save the provided Scale_LineStyles_Reference.key file to a convenient location.
  2. Open the KEY file with Notepad.
    a. Replace Reference.dgn with the name of the reference attachment that you want to apply the change to.
    b. The number 1 in the string turns the feature on. To turn the feature off, change 1 to 0.
    c. Save and exit when complete.
  3. Load Global File Changer.

  1. Go to Settings | Restore Factory Defaults…, and press <Yes> when prompted.
This is a precaution to ensure there are no other features or settings active that might impact your result.
  2. Next to the Design Files: field, press the <Select...> button.
  3. Either drag and drop your files into the Choose Files to Process dialog box or navigate to and select your files for processing. Press <OK> when finished.

  1. Next to the Key-in File: field, press <Select...>, then navigate to and select the Scale_LineStyles_Reference.key file saved previously.
  2. Press <Start> to process your files.

When the process is complete, the specified reference file will have the Scale Line Styles By Reference Scale feature turned on/off in all processed files.
